Racecadotril Capsules come with the brand “RACEWORK” and can be used to treat the symptoms of acute diarrhoea in adults and infants who are above three months of age. It can be used as a supplementary treatment when acute diarrhoea cannot be taken lightly. If there are three or more loose/watery stools in a day, it is acute diarrhoea given that it has lasted for at least 14 days. It consists of ‘Racecadotril,’ which is a prodrug, and when ingested, gets converted into ‘thiorphan,’ which acts on the epithelium of the small intestine.

Racecadotril Capsules aid in restoring the imbalance by inhibiting the hypersecretion or loss of chlorine and water in the intestines due to cholera toxin and inflammation. As a result, the compound acts as an effective antidiarrheal drug without affecting the bowel transit time or the time taken for food to pass through the intestines.

Precautions
